Lexile:530L
Publisher: Learner publishing grp
Ages: K-2
Book Series: CloverLeaf Books
Synopsis and Review:
In this explanatory nonfiction book about the changes in weather during the season of fall, young readers follow a classroom of children to explore the weather changes. Broken up into easy to four easy chapters students are introduced to key nonfiction text features. Not only does it have a table of contents but it also has a glossary, index, and "further learning" resources in the back of the book.

Not only does the book have easy to follow nonfiction text features but as it it geared to younger readers, the text is big and easy to follow. There are not a lot of side text to read. The text flows much like narrative nonfiction without the key elements (such as character or plot).
I read this one to my preschoolers during our fall unit and it gave us the idea to do our own weather chart. We used images instead of words and we also used the rain gauge activity provided at the back of the book as well. I found this to be a great learning resources and even a good read aloud nonfiction book to include in my lesson.
